Ornithology

  1. Jungle crow - has jet black necks instead of the grey necks like house crows. Sometimes look similar to Koel in appearance but have different voices.
  2. Rose ring Parakeet - Red ring mark on the neck. It can mimic any voice like parrots. (Parrots are not native to India; only Parakeets)
  3. Sunbird (smallest bird in India) - has long curved beak and tongue for sucking nectar from the flowers like a bee and can fly fast.
  4. Cattle Egrets (Insectivorous) - yellow beak and white in color. It walks behind the cattle, and when the movement of cattle disturbs the insects making them fly, then it catches them easily. The male egret gets a coat of yellow on feathers and face to attract a female during the breeding period.
  5. Mynah - It has white spots on the wings.
  6. Kingfisher - White-breasted, bluish in color, and lives in moist areas or near water.
  7. Swallow - It can fly at 170 miles per hour speeds.
  8. Small green barbet - It flies fast then closes its wings so they drop and then flies again.
  9. Copper Smith barbet - red-pink throat, flat pattern lines, and waves are formed during flying.
//Termite traps - the termites will build a smooth crater-like hole in which small insects like ants get trapped, and the termite hiding below the trap will come and eat its prey.

Better sometimes to be blind, dumb, and deaf

It's better sometimes to be blind to the faults of some poor fellow beings.

Than to view them with visions unkind when there's good we ought to be seeing.

It's better sometimes to be dumb than to speak just to be criticizing.

Though it seems to be given some to recall traits both mean and despising,

Its better sometimes to be deaf than to hear only lying and pander,

For there's nothing so low as of a good name destroyed by slander.

If I knew

If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep.

I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the lord your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time that I saw you walk out the door.

I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted in praise.

I would tape each action and word so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra minute or two.

to stop and say "I love you", instead of assuming you would know I do.

If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day.

Well, I'm sure you'll have so many more, so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight.

and we always get a second chance to make everything right.

There will always be another day to say our "I love yous."

and certainly there's another chance to say our "Anything's I can do's."

But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get,

I'd like to say how much I love you, and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike.

Today may be the last time you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you are waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today?

For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day.

That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss.

and you were too busy to grant someone what turned out to be their last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear.

that you love them very much and you'll always hold them dear.

Take time to say "I'm sorry", "Please forgive me", "Thank you"

and if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.

Two Men and a woman- Worst Stereotype Edition

What happens when a ship sinks in high seas and the following people are stranded on a beautiful deserted island in the middle of nowhere and we observe them one month later?

A) 2 Italian men and a woman

The one Italian man killed the other for the Italian woman.

B) 2 French men and a woman

All three of them are living together as a single family.

C) 2 German men and a woman

The German men have created a strict weekly schedule of when each of them gets to spend time with the German woman.

D) 2 Greek men and a woman

The two Greek men are happy together while the Greek woman is cooking and cleaning for them.

E) 2 Polish men and a woman

The men took a long look at the endless ocean and then a long look at the Polish woman, and they started swimming away.

F) 2 Mexican men and a woman

The two men are trying to find some other men on the island to try and sell them the Mexican woman.

G) 2 American men and a woman

The men are contemplating committing suicide as the American woman just keeps talking about her body being her own, the true nature of feminism, how she does not need a man, how her ex-boyfriends respected her opinion and treated her much better, how she can do everything they can do, and how her relationship with her mother is improving when she gets saved.

H) 2 Indian men and a woman

The Indian men are still waiting for someone to introduce them to the Indian woman.

Tales of an immortal

The taste was exquisite bringing old memories in mind,

when food was everything for which humanity strived.

Nature provided people full stomachs and some more,

for fruits were in abundance and in plenty for all.

The battle for survival forced the humans to adopt,

from throwing stones to learning to play with rocks.

Even they had excess to eat from each kill they got,

Foraging and hunting they began to bound at last.

Ores the earth provided and the mastery of light,

the wild beginning to look different every night.

Man and machine were mating together in one,

as engines would bring closer the world to fun.

Exploring the world on ships travelling around,

connecting cultures so the treasures were found.

Instead of being together around a small fire,

differences born hid upon walls getting higher.

Where once there was aplenty it wasn't enough,

as all kept it within and keeping empty the trough.

Where stones were shared now gold were saved,

tools became weapons to protect with the braved.

I had survived this universe through endless time,

walking together but feeling loneliness still fine.

I have seen the world change but not be better,

my friends were bit simple but fun was greater.

A love affair of a nation divided in two

First limerick

My first limerick and it was a teaching moment. Trying to teach someone about it helped me create one of my own.

"

Muskan has no money

But she is so funny

She needs some work

or we call her dork

for being a lot puny

Learning from the world

Moon is always on my side,
hence I can face in the tide.
Sun follows me whole day,
bringing hope in every day.

Rain  keeps falling all night,
making me think I am alright.
Wind hammers away at will,
letting me know no pain is still.

Ocean reminds us of peace,
calling joy of travel a lease.
Forests are a place to be lost,
to finding myself at any cost

Sand always slips from hand,
so worry shouldn't look grand.
Stone can be just unbreakable,
my will too shall become noble.

Iron has been bent with fire,
life's lesson is to forgo desire.
Gold is for the fortunate rich,
but none makes life a beach.

Kuch dur saath chalo

What awaits you on the other side ?

Religions talk a lot about the story of what happens on the other side of death. The fear of the unknown is how they control the actions and discipline the disciples. The reward system of the beyond is how they attract the misdeeds from the unfortunates.

If it were up to me, I would imagine a better albeit a more stranger world. One in which there is an ongoing battle happening between two forces per se good and evil. The planet we know as Earth is just a form of training grounds, that is just preparing us for the big battle ahead. If you become a capable fighting unit and are selected to provide some sort of service to the war then you stay, else you are sent back to the planet to relearn.

The strange part is that this theory works really well for modern people who believe they are part of a matrix-like world and even for the people who believe their good or evil actions should be accounted for in the after. The biggest reason it should get support is it allows for a life beyond that of the regular uncertain mundane life we have here on the planet. There is also the probability of reincarnation in cases of failure but barring that scenario, it does not send you to the eternal life trap of either the complete happiness of heaven or the damnation of hell. It also does not send you into the sadistic end of nothingness that a lot now believe. It also does not deny the existence of entity /entities that are all powerful forces but just reduces the self importance that humanity has given itself in the entire equation.

One of the entegral part of religion that has eluded my understanding over the years is the 'Prayer'. It is simple to believe in something other than self that is controlling your actions and even your future in the land itself. My problem begins with the thinking that simply by requesting, asking or in some days bargaining with said entity be able modify everything. It is but a part of an ordinary man's life to believe that they can change their destiny, yet being able to do by just purely believing and with inaction seems conceptually wrong.

Take in the form of cases where in the first case a person who is only performing good deeds but without any prayer. If those good deeds are enough to gain entrance to the heaven or even find escape from the life-death cycle then wouldn't they make praying redundant. In case where only praying is enough then doesn't the nature of God itself come into a big question. Why would the almighty, omnipotent and omnipresent supernatural force be dependant on the actions of humans. Why does praying please him or not praying anger him. Should he not be purely independant force from the life and life choices of the humans he created. It is shocking to think that when people say that it is by the will of the God that they attained their destiny or their actions are being completely controlled by God. How can such God then judge those men for those same actions.

If my world would be the real one, I would retain my free will through my actions even after getting out of the world boundaries. Even if I end up fighting the battle on the side of the evil, it would be bringing me to the same battlefield as the do-gooders although on the other side. I understand that concept of such a world may not be able to give guidance or preach about the right path to take for all people but what it does bring to the table is the hope that our existence is not ending in a dead end. It is a belief for people that they will not be completely eradicated from existence or having to suffer the eternal extension where thay may be in heaven but they will continue to exist for no proper reason.

Nature is with me

Moon is always on my side,
Hence I can face the tide.
Sun follows me whole day,
Bringing hope in every ray.

Grass is green around me,
so playing ball it is to be.
Sand is soft and tad tasty,
life is fun when it is pasty.

Wind is pushing me ahead,
giving plenty to run a red.
Water breaks up my breath,
to ponder any future wrath.

Fire always crackles away,
providing food every way.
Rock is my weapon or tool,
allowing me to set up rule.

Nature is forever present,
for rich and even peasant.
Loneliness is but a dream,
my friend is always seen.

The forest that was

There was a small forest near me,
with leafy greens and piney trees.
It lived a life undisturbed by deed,
around noisy roads and crazy beat.

Visiting it every morning and night,
brought true peace and often delight.
It was a place away from the crowds
where insects live and birds survive.

Shadows of the man casts a doubt,
In its mind either it kills or it plows.
Spending the precious time we have,
for flowery smell and fresh air we get.

One summer that forest was gone,
leaving hole and pained heart long.
Concrete was the enemy at land,
bringing our hope and roots to rot.

Humans were the culprits again,
touching lovely and thinking game.
Beginning to wonder all the loss,
to the wild nature and its maker.

Taking away the home of friends,
the earth will punish us in the end.
The costs shall be up manifold,
with every forest that today goes.

Moving again to a forest ground,
nature love forcing steps to rise.
Again have got a forest near me,
with different greens and new trees.

GREED

The life of a warrior is the greed of riches and glory.
No war would exist if not for the greed of mankind.
The life of a merchant is the greed of profit and hen.
No poor would be found if greed could be vanquished.

The life of a priest is the greed of supremacy or future.
No souls would matter if not for the lies and deception.
The life of a farmer is the greed of grains and water.
No food would reach the mouth is not for grit and toil.

The life of a criminal is the greed of else and bit more.
No diamond is big enough to satisfy the growing appetite
The life of a hunter is the greed of kill and some skill.
No creature would survive for the monster with the gun.

The life of a leader is the greed of protection or power.
No mission would ever complete if not for their initiative.
The life of a parent is the greed of relation and blood.
No learning is better achieved than ones learned at home.

What are you going to do ?

The poor seem to have lost a cause,
Bending knee as every trouble came.
The runaways have never won war,
For their resolve is always the same.

The demons are the social spawns,
Bred by the selfish desires of one.
The lazy have stagnated in shell,
While they wait for things to run.

The rich may have found their way,
Fighting through the dust and rain.
The brave will find their success,
Walking beyond the fire and pain.

The angels live among the humans,
Providing help to those who need.
The diligent lead the life they want,
Shown in magazine cover we read.

The choices we make divides future,
As hunger drives us ever so closer.
No matter where your destiny lies,
The last survivor is never a poser.

Monsoon

The beginning of the special time,
made with a small bunch of droplets.
Soon they are pouring down below,
and the sky is filling in darkness.

The grass and ground are all wet,
yet the kids will not stop playing.
As the clouds burst up they run,
and hide under any solid covering.

Some animals come out to peek
while others begin to disappear.
You find peacock dance in joy,
and dogs return inside in fear.

Trees have never looked clearer,
and the air feels really fresh.
Temperature may get a bit colder,
and wind can make you sick.

Hot coffee brings friend together,
and umbrellas put lovers close.
It is the season of fun and game,
to spread happiness is Monsoon.

Innocence and Forgiveness

It had taken not much effort,
yet mischief had been done
Their plans always meant trouble,
as they brought much fun.

It would have been forgotten
But there had been unrest
If there were no punishment
What could they tell the rest

Yet pardoned were they all
As they were just little kids
They always spread happiness
breaking the cookie jar lids
